Dugongs Room
3 to 4 years
Our Dugongs room will provide an emerging curriculum for your child based on their growing interests and through communication with parents. Our room and outdoor space are designed to provide a well-rounded and developmentally appropriate educational experience for our young learners.

Development stages:
Social and Emotional Development: Preschool programs focus on helping children develop social skills and emotional intelligence. This includes learning to share, take turns, express emotions and work cooperatively with peers.
Language and Communication: Language development is a key component of the curriculum. Children are encouraged to expand their vocabulary, practice listening and speaking skills and begin to recognise letters and simple words..
Cognitive Development: Pre-schoolers engage in activities that promote cognitive development. This may include simple math concepts (counting, sorting), basic problem-solving and exploring shapes and colours.
Literacy Skills: While children are not typically reading at this age, they are introduced to the world of books and stories. They may participate in read-aloud sessions and engage in activities that promote pre-reading skills, such as recognising letters and understanding that text is read from left to right.
Fine and Gross Motor Skills: Pre-schoolers work on developing both fine motor skills (like holding a pencil or using scissors) and gross motor skills (like running and jumping) through various activities and play .
Creativity and Art: Art and creative expression are important parts of the curriculum. Children have the opportunity to draw, paint, craft and engage in imaginative play.
Science and Nature: Our programs will introduce basic science concepts and nature exploration, encouraging children to be curious and learn about the world around them.
Music and Movement: Our programs will incorporate music and movement activities to help with coordination and rhythm. Singing, dancing and playing musical instruments can be part of the curriculum.
Incursions and Excursions: We will aim to include occasional field trips and have weekly incursions to broaden your child’s experiences and exposure to the community.
Parents can expect regular communication from our Early Childhood Teacher and Support Educator about their child’s progress, activities and any concerns. It is essential for parents to be actively involved in their child’s education by participating in parent-teacher conferences and staying informed about the curriculum and activities.
